Step 4 – Governance & Board Structure

A thoughtful, well-chosen board of directors can provide your organization strategic guidance as well as a direct connection to business workforce needs, pro bono support, and critical funding. The Board of Directors is also the group of initial champions that assist in executing the demand-driven model by supporting its goals. Finally, the founding Chair of the Board is a critical decision as it signals to the market the importance of the organization as a civic priority.

Key Questions to Ask:

Will your intermediary be connected to or independent of the Workforce Investment Board?

Will you adopt an existing Board or create a new Board?

Will your Board be elected or appointed?
